The role of the shareholders (COHInc)is to appoint directors to the company (COHSL), hold any hospital assets on behalf of the community, and represent the community’s views concerning health services to the company.

It has five elected members from each of the wards the hospital serves (Alexandra. Wanaka, Eamscleugh/Manuherikia, Roxburgh, and Cromwell) as well as appointed members representing service providers, the Central Otago District Council and the Tangata Whenua.

 

Jim Nelson was born in Dunedin and is a dental surgeon running a private practice in Dunedin and Wanaka.

He has been a president of the Otago Branch of the NZ Dental Assocaition, and a board member of Columba College, Dunedin.

He was a founding partner and former director of Cardrona Ski Area and is currently a managing director of KMK Storage Ltd in Wanaka.

Francie Diver is the appointed Tangata Whenua representative and Chair of the Otago/Southland Lotteries Commission Committee. She has a long history of working for Maori welfare and is dedicated to the best outcome for health and welfare for Maori in the region.

John Kerr is on the Roxburgh Community Board and has been the Deputy Chair for the last 3 years with 9 years service. He has been involved with Rotary, Cancer Society, Victim Support and is involved with the Union Church all in the Teviot and surrounding areas.

I have been working as a Practice Nurse in Cromwell for almost 15 years.
I have served as President of Playcentre, secretary / treasurer of Pony Club, President of Rural Women New Zealand at branch and Central Otago levels.   I was a member of the Cromwell College Board of Trustees and the Central Otago Rural Advisory Committee to the Otago District Health Board.
